About the artist
Paper, patience, and a pair of quilling needles.
Hazld is the studio name for Hazel Tony — a paper quilling artist working between Kuala Lumpur and Bangalore. Every piece is built strip by strip: thin bands of coloured paper coiled into tight rings, shaped into teardrops and marquises, then arranged on board until the composition sings.
The craft is slow on purpose. A name takes a few days. A portrait takes a few weeks. The physical quality of paper — the way light catches the edge of a coil, the small shadows between shapes — is what I chase.
I take on a small number of private commissions each season. Wedding gifts, nursery pieces, and portraits of the people (and pets) you love.
